Glass and iron door of spectacular proportions. Based on a design from a 16th century door provided by the interior designer. It weighed 250 kilos so hinges to suit the weight and arched opening were made.
Rather than having a separate fanlight, the entire door opens. A complex door to engineer, it graces this home with an elegance and functionality that only high end ironwork can achieve.
The handle was hand forged and fitted in the machine shop. The framing for the door/archway was formed in steel plate with an angle return lip to cover the brick edge. Finished with a textured black powdercoat with silver highlights to give the ironwork a natural steel look. |
