Wrought Artworks' crew is seen here removing the original balustrading to transport, firstly to the sandblasters, and then to the workshop in Alexandria for restoration. All components were carefully labeled, numbered and documented in order to be returned to their original locations. Patterns were made for each item, and any beyond repair were then recast.
The pit dug for shoreing up of the old sea wall and new drainage infrastructure, as you see here in front of the railing, made removal of balustrade for restoration difficult.
A crane was used for lifting out the posts.
