Gates / Sydney University West Quadrangle Double Gates

Sydney University West Quadrangle Gate - Sympathet - Gates and Fences - Wrought Artworks - Iron work Australia

Wrought Artworks was commissioned to turn this design by Otto Cserhalmi Architects into a reality. Its contemporary modernist style complements the heritage environment of the quadrangle at Sydney University.

Wrought Artworks made the gates and panels using traditional techniques, such as screwed fixings, and forged integral tenons on the rails. The rails were riveted to the stiles. Vertical members were inserted through punched square holes in the horizontals.

Purpose built strap hinges and pedestal bearings ensure years of reliable operation. The gates and panels are fully protected by an industrial paint coating system.

Client: Sydney University
